Mental Logs – Metal
This trick has proved very popular at The Blackpool Magic Convention several years running!
The magician displays four rods with different numbers on all sides.
A spectator is asked to mix the rods up and arrange them on the table to give four random lines of numbers.
They are then given a calculator and asked to add these four lines together.
Even before the spectator has entered a single number on the calculator, the magician knows the total!
This can be repeated as often as you like, with different results each time. In fact, you can perform with 1, 2, 3, or all 4 of the rods, in any order- there are literally thousands of different combinations!
The magician must be a human supercomputer that can add totals faster than any calculator- but surely its not actually magic?
The magician finishes by making one final prediction which he writes down for all to see. Now he turns the assembled logs over to the side which nobody has even seen until just now.
Sure enough, when the spectator adds the numbers up the magician’s prediction is correct. Now that really is magic!
This clever trick requires no secret marks or sleights, and doesn’t require complex maths or knowledge- only the secret to this simple piece of mentalism.

Please note that due to the hand made nature of this item these logs may have imperfections such as minor scuffs and marks- this is an unavoidable part of the manufacturing process.
The trick will still work perfectly well regardless (as there is no secret marks or similar to be effected)!
